Monday night [15th] Mark Winchester from
MacAnswers gave us tips on how to keep our Mac running reliably.
Some ways are through hardware, use a UPS, pick the right computer for your needs, have enough RAM and hard drive space and choose peripherals that serve our needs. We moved on to software picking software that meets our needs, eliminate unneeded software and avoid novelty software.
Develop good habits by reading the manual, do regular backups and run OS maintenance software like
Cocktail. Then what do I do when I have a problem the first questions to ask yourself is what has changed? then is the issue specific to an application or on the system level, is it repeatable or intermittent. If it is a USB/Firewire device try unplugging it and plug it back in. Check the vendors web site or user group forums.
We concluded with an extensive Q and A period. Mark did a great job filled with valuable information for every member. Then we were off to Red Robin.
