My experience with MacLife in Boise

Let me start off by saying that your experience may vary. You might have wonderful service. I did not -- and it was so outside the realm of what I'd expect from a company who's taken the step to branch out to a second store that I felt I had to share it with our local MUG. Following our great April meeting on the 8th (thanks again, Mark, for the great maintenance tips) I toodled to the newly-opened downtown Boise MacLife (on 8th and ..erm.. is that Myrtle?), thinking I'd be a good do-bee and patronize a local business instead of ordering from Amazon or some online Mac store. I'd decided I wanted Disk Warrior (after checking online, comparing it and Tech Tool Pro, etc.). The first store assistant wasn't sure if they carried it so he got their "tech guy" who confirmed that I'd made a good choice -- that was what they always used in their shop. However, they didn't have it in stock, and after a wait for him to call the Overland store, we learned they didn't have it either, so he took my name and phone and said they'd order it and it would be about a week. Great. A week later and no word, so about 10 days later, I email MacLife using their online contact form. I explain the situation in detail and give my email address and phone number. No call the next day, no call 3 days later. So I call today. After being put on hold, I'm told that they don't stock that and I can get that at a local Office Max. I explain I am not happy. What kind of service is it to not even call? I was going to look into getting a UPS from them as well. As it stands now, I will do my best to never patronize their store. This is my own experience and you may have great luck with them. I can only add that I hope a real Apple store arrives in the Boise area some time in the near future.
