May or May Not Meeting
There was no fixed program, which might be a good thing because no one there could figure out how to use the ceiling-mounted projector. So, we just started sharing favorite tips. One was a nifty widget called iStat Pro, which displays battery data, temperatures from various parts of the Mac, and other good things. Another was an app called Camoflage, which lets you hide all the icons from a cluttered desktop--useful if you are giving a presentation or just don't want someone to see all the clutter. There were others that I can't recall just now.
Several people said they were unfamiliar with Mac's own Mail app, so I showed them how to configure it to work with a Gmail POP account. (I hope you all got it to work for you when you got home.) This helped show the wide range of users we have. There is need for discussion of the more basic tasks as well as the geekier things, and I hope people on both sides of this range will feel free to speak up in this forum.
