Classes in Nampa on Macs and Photography

There are classes in September, October, and November scheduled covering working with your Mac and working with digital images. They're conducted by Mark Winchester, a regularly contributing presenter at BoiseMacs. Classes include Mastering Mac OSX, Discovering Apple's iPhoto, Working with Digital Images, Photoshop: Hands-on series, How to sell well on eBay, How to choose a camera. For more details, read on. Mastering Mac OS X This class will help you understand how to use Mac OS X, especially the later versions. You will see how to save and organize files, customize your desktop, add a printer, burn a CD or DVD, and make a PDF. Many time-saving features and short-cuts will be uncovered to help you get the most from your Apple computer. September 15, 7-9pm, $28 per person November 10, 7-9pm, $28 per person (this is a repeat of same class) Discovering Apple’s iPhoto Discover the simplicity of using iPhoto to manage and work with your pictures. Saving and sharing family memories, creating your own slideshows, or even your own movie DVDs are among the tasks made easy with iPhoto and other of Apple’s iLife applications. October 13, 7-9pm, $28 per person Got pictures? Now what? Digital cameras allow us to take many pictures with ease. This workshop will give you options for managing, editing, and sharing your images. I'll help you understand basic color correction/editing and we will learn how to share pictures using email, online galleries, and as prints. October 20, 7-9pm, $28 per person Photoshop: Hands-on series This series of three classes will get you familiar with using the key features in Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. The first class will focus on how to use the main tools. The second session will focus on the color correction and editing options. The third session will focus on the creative use of filters and masks. Throughout the class I will share tips and short-cuts designed to save you time. There will be sample files for you to use and follow along with. You can do, as I do, helping you learn this amazing software. September 8, 22, October 6, 7-9pm, $88 per person for all three sessions September 8, 22, October 6, 7-9pm, $34 per person for any one session Note: Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops and follow along using the supplied sample files. How to sell well on ebay This class will help you understand how to work within the superstore that ebay has become, as a buyer and a seller. It will show you tools the site provides to set reasonable prices and even to discern interest. How to create eye-catching search-smart ads, to improve your appeal and selling price, and tips to keep shipping cost down. November 3, 7-9pm, $28 per person How to choose a camera There are so many digital cameras available, picking one can be a dizzying process. This class will help you: Prioritize your needs and interests; understand what camera features support those interests; and provide explanation for which camera specs to pay attention to.
